Project Overview
The Brief
Kiro set out to launch their brand with an immersive haunted house experience that could turn heads at AWS re:Invent 2025.
A focus on common developers nightmares gave us a fun and unique starting place to build a series of tactile scares and bespoke IRL environments, all within creaky wooden slats of an ominous cabin built in the foyer of The Venetian.
Our Approach
Rather than the typical jump scares, we leaned into a next-gen haunted house experience. Bringing a Meow Wolf-type immersive approach, screen technology was blended with film-set style production details to bring this show-stopper to life.
From a house of mirrors to a glow-in-the-dark stone tunnel to another world, guests made their way through each section of this quirky activation to discover how Kiro’s advanced spec-driven development brings structure and sophistication to the world of AI assisted coding.
Fabrication
A 20x25 space in the Foyer of the Venetian was our canvas. Our artists? A group of former Meow Wolf scenic designers, all with the common goal of making this flagship re:Invent experience undeniably bold.
Over the course of just five weeks, we sketched out a number of variations, finally aligning on a version of the Kiro Haunted House that combined modern spacial tech with traditional scenic design and production. From bespoke digital floors, mirrored wall projections, and a number of animated screens carefully blended with derelict office furniture, we created an audio-visual experience that resulted in hours-long queues and endless instagram posts.
